Hand Engraver

As a Hand Engraver, you will be responsible for producing high-quality hand engraving on a wide range of jewellery and precious metal items. Working closely with our workshop and sales teams, you will create bespoke engravings that enhance the value and individuality of our products while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out hand engraving on bracelets, pendants, bangles, charms and other jewellery pieces
• Produce a variety of engraving styles, including script, block lettering, monograms, decorative patterns, and bespoke designs.
• Interpret customer requirements, artwork, and design specifications accurately.
• Prepare surfaces for engraving and ensure finished work meets agreed quality standards.
• Maintain consistency, precision, and attention to detail across all engraving projects.
• Liaise with workshop colleagues regarding repairs, remodelling, and bespoke commissions where engraving is required.
• Manage workload effectively to meet customer deadlines and production schedules.
• Care for and maintain engraving tools, gravers, vices, microscopes, and other specialist equipment.
• Advise on engraving suitability for different materials and jewellery styles.
• Uphold workshop health and safety standards and maintain a clean, organised workspace.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Proven experience as a hand engraver within the jewellery, silversmithing, or related luxury goods sector.
• Excellent freehand engraving skills and a strong understanding of traditional engraving techniques.
• Ability to work confidently on precious metals including gold, silver and platinum.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
• Ability to read and interpret design briefs and customer specifications.
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.

Desirable

• Knowledge of jewellery manufacturing and repair processes.
• Experience with stone-set jewellery and engraving around delicate settings.
• Relevant jewellery, silversmithing, or engraving qualifications.
• Familiarity with both traditional hand engraving and modern engraving techniques.
