Full job description

We’re looking for two dedicated and enthusiastic Chefs to join our welcoming kitchen team at Urban West.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves cooking but prefers a better work-life balance — our café operates sociable daytime hours (8:30 a.m.–4 p.m.), meaning no late nights and a more relaxed service environment than a traditional restaurant.

As part of our team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in fresh, seasonal cooking while enjoying a supportive, collaborative atmosphere that encourages growth and creativity.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of fresh dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and running smoothly throughout the day.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene practices to maintain top standards.
  • Communicate clearly with your teammates to ensure smooth service and a positive vibe.
  • Take part in menu development and contribute ideas for daily specials.
  • Help manage stock rotation and report any shortages promptly.

What We’re Looking For

  • Some kitchen experience is preferred, but a great attitude and willingness to learn matter most.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene.
