Proposed Interview date: Friday 11 September

Salary: £37,851.02 pro rata

About the vacancy:

Join us as a Governance & Compliance Officer (G&CO) and play a key role in keeping our organisation transparent, accountable, and operating to the highest standards.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of governance within the social housing, charitable, public, or regulated not-for-profit sectors.

In this role the G&CO will play a key role in maintaining high standards of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct across the Group.

While the postholder will have defined areas of responsibility, they will also be required to support all other activities of the team when identified.

This role sits within our Governance team and is focused on supporting the effective operation of the Board, committees and subsidiary entities. The successful candidate will help coordinate meetings, maintain governance records, support regulatory compliance, advise on governance processes, and contribute to ensuring the organisation meets its legal and regulatory obligations as a Registered Social Landlord.

Working hours will be agreed with the successful candidate. This is a part-time opportunity with no weekend working, offering flexibility to support work-life balance. We welcome applications from individuals seeking part-time hours to accommodate childcare responsibilities, health needs, study commitments, portfolio careers, or other personal circumstances.

Specifically, in the role you will:

  • Co-ordinate and administer relevant meetings for the Group, including scheduling, agenda setting, pack preparation, transcribing of minutes and follow up actions to deadline.
  • Maintain accurate records of decisions, actions and declarations of interest.
  • Create standard governance reports, working with stakeholders to obtain relevant information.
  • Support delivery of the Group's approach to Board & Committee development, including annual effectiveness and skills reviews, recruitment, succession planning, induction and learning & development.
  • Co-ordinate and implement Group events, including workshops, training sessions, strategic planning days and general meetings.
  • Co-ordinate and undertake the use of the Group approach to signing and sealing, ensuring compliance with governing documents, regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Support the creation, development, improvement and implementation of governance processes and procedures to create efficiencies eg Schedule 1, Gifts & Hospitality.
  • Monitor and report on the submission of Group regulatory and legislative returns, updating relevant registers where required.
  • Design and deliver internal training, guidance and digital content to embed governance best practice, supporting colleagues to understand and apply key principles and processes.
  • Act as a point of contact for operational governance & compliance queries, providing suitable advice, assistance and guidance.
