About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent college leaver or a junior designer looking for part-time hours to get their foot in the door. You will be working directly alongside our lead visualizer, who will provide hands-on training and mentorship to help you elevate your skills in drafting plans and creating visualizations for garden rooms, annexes, and planning applications.

While some prior experience with SketchUp and LayOut is required, the primary focus of this role is growth and learning. For the right candidate, this part-time role has a clear pathway to becoming a full-time position as your skills develop and the business continues to grow.

What You’ll Be Doing Working closely with our lead designer to produce 2D plans and 3D models. Utilizing SketchUp to build accurate models for garden rooms and residential annexes. Using LayOut to prepare clear, professional drawings for UK planning applications. Learning industry-standard CGI and architectural visualization techniques on the job. Assisting with general design and administrative duties as our project load expands.

What We’re Looking For Software Skills: Foundational experience using SketchUp and LayOut is essential. You don’t need to be an absolute master yet, but you need to know your way around the software. Eagerness to Learn: A highly coachable attitude. You will be taught our specific workflow, so a willingness to listen, learn, and adapt is key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 2D planning application drawings and site plans
  • Develop 3D models using SketchUp and Layout based on provided specifications
  • Create composite images using Photoshop or similar software
  • Collaborate with the team to refine designs and meet project requirements
  • Maintain organised documentation with attention to version control and naming conventions
  • Participate in occasional client visits to gather project insights

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of 3D design principles
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and Layout
  • Experience with Photoshop or equivalent photo-editing tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specifications
  • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to adapt to changing workloads
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for client visits)

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Pursuing or holding an architectural technologist qualification
  • Experience creating documents with Layout
  • Understanding of document organisation, version control, and naming conventions
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new software tools

What We Offer

  • Flexible working hours to accommodate your lifestyle
  • A supportive and innovative work environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Competitive salary
  • Annual holiday entitlement
  • Office located at Watermoor Point in Cirencester, with free parking
