GRADUATE SURVEYOR

Kick-start your surveying career with our client, a growing property consultancy

Location: Remote (site visits required)

Employment: Full-time, permanent

Salary: £28,000-£30,000

Start date: As soon as possible / by agreement

About the Role

Our client, a growing property consultancy, is looking for an ambitious Graduate Surveyor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate who wants hands-on exposure to a varied range of surveying work and the chance to develop quickly within a professional consultancy.

You will work alongside experienced Chartered Surveyors and senior colleagues, assisting with property inspections, technical reporting, valuation work, defect investigations and project-related instructions. The role combines office-based work, site inspections and direct contact with clients, contractors and other property professionals.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assist with residential and commercial property inspections and surveys.
  • Support the preparation of RICS-style survey reports, defect reports and other technical property advice.
  • Assist with property valuations, comparable research and market analysis.
  • Undertake measured surveys, photographic schedules and accurate site notes.
  • Help senior surveyors with defect diagnosis and recommendations for remedial works.
  • Support project work – specifications, schedules of works, tender documentation, site inspections and progress reporting.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, agents, contractors, solicitors and other consultants.
  • Carry out property and market research and keep clear records of comparable evidence.
  • Help prepare fee proposals, quotations, client correspondence and general job administration.
  • Maintain accurate electronic project files, inspection records and supporting documentation.
  • Manage allocated tasks efficiently and meet agreed reporting deadlines.
  • Build technical knowledge of relevant legislation, RICS guidance, building regulations, health and safety and professional standards.

What We're Looking For

Our client wants someone enthusiastic, personable and driven – attitude matters more than previous experience. You'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Building Surveying, Real Estate, Property, Construction or another relevant property-related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in surveying, property and the built environment.
  • Strong written English and the ability to produce clear, accurate and professional reports.
  • Confident communication skills and a professional manner with clients and third parties.
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and record keeping.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in property values, construction and market conditions.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to juggle several tasks at once.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and the confidence to ask questions, take responsibility and learn quickly.
  • A full UK driving licence is essiential, due to the site-based nature of the role.

Training & Career Development

This role is designed to be the foundation for a long-term career in surveying. You'll gain practical experience across a broad range of instructions while working closely with experienced surveyors. Where applicable, the role can support progression towards RICS professional qualification and the APC process.

  • Regular exposure to live property inspections and client instructions from an early stage.
  • On-the-job mentoring from experienced surveyors and senior leaders.
  • Increasing responsibility as your knowledge and confidence grow.
  • Experience across surveying, valuation, defects and project work.
  • Support with relevant professional development and technical training.

Why Join Our Client

  • A varied role with exposure to real projects and client work – not a narrow graduate function.
  • A young, dynamic and commercially focused working environment.
  • Direct access to senior surveyors and decision-makers.
  • A clear opportunity to develop technical skills, client confidence and professional responsibility.
  • Progression driven by performance, attitude and capability.
