Based in the south-west of England in Dorchester, Precision Acoustics is a Coda Octopus Group Company. The Company was established in its present form in 1997 and is well established as a major supplier of ultrasonic transducers, hydrophones, acoustic materials and metrology products for the MHz ultrasound markets on a worldwide basis.
The role:
As a Graduate Ultrasound Engineer, you will join our Sensors & Materials team, designing, building and testing bespoke ultrasound sensors and acoustic materials for customers around the world.
Your work will contribute to technologies used in applications including medical ultrasound, non-destructive testing, underwater sensing and scientific research.
This is a practical engineering role with a strong laboratory focus. You will learn how ultrasound devices are designed, manufactured and characterised while working alongside experienced engineers on customer projects, new product development and research activities.

Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you will have a real impact on the team's output and be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial customer enquiry through design, manufacture and delivery.
No prior knowledge of acoustics is required. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and support to develop the specialist knowledge and practical skills needed for the role.
Candidates who enjoy hands-on engineering, demonstrate good craftsmanship and attention to detail, and have a passion for practical problem-solving are particularly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
· Sensor manufacture and support for product development.
· Support for the Sensors team in delivery of new products and services.
· Electrical and acoustic testing of ultrasound sensors.
· Use of workshop facilities, including lathe and mill (training provided).
· Use of acoustic measurement equipment: Oscilloscope, hydrophones, ultrasound scanning tanks, radiation force balance (training provided).
· Supporting internal teams including the Systems, Production and Calibration teams within the business.
· Assist in preparing technical proposals for new business opportunities.
· Liaise with external contacts including customers and suppliers.
· Design and development of assembly processes.
· Maintain accurate technical records and documentation
· Work safely and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
· Support the Companys’ vision and values.
Experience
· Degree qualified, ideally in a STEM discipline.
Attributes
· Good attention to detail and an aptitude for precise and delicate work.
· Good interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate with other team members.
· Able to work under own initiative.
· An understanding of or interest in acoustics, electronics and sensors or a materials science is desirable.
· Excellent problem solving abilities and a desire to learn.
· Ability to work within an ISO9001 quality system.
· Commitment to personal development and self learning.
Benefits
· Mentorship & career development: Learn on the job with direct mentorship from industry experts.
· Patent reward scheme: Get financially recognised and rewarded for your innovative ideas.
· Time off: 25 days annual holiday plus all bank holidays.
· Health & wellbeing: Comprehensive health insurance cash plan.
· Competitive salary: Highly competitive base pay based on your experience.
· Future security: Secure company pension scheme
