Mermaid Medical Group is an international medical device company with Nordic roots and headquarters in Denmark. Since 2007, we have developed, manufactured and distributed innovative medical solutions that support healthcare professionals and improve patient care across Europe, the USA and Asia.

We are now looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Account Manager to manage and develop our South West England and South Wales territory.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing medical device organisation with an established customer base, a broad and innovative product portfolio and significant opportunities for further growth.

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of a territory, building strong clinical relationships and turning opportunities into sustainable business.

The Role

As Account Manager, you will have responsibility for growing Mermaid Medical’s business across South West England and South Wales, working predominantly with NHS hospitals alongside selected private healthcare providers.

You will manage existing accounts while actively developing new business opportunities across a diverse portfolio of medical devices and procedural solutions.

This is a field-based role, requiring regular travel throughout the territory and a strong presence within customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Take full commercial ownership of the South West England and South Wales territory.
  • Develop and execute a clear territory business plan.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets, growth objectives and KPIs.
  • Manage and grow existing NHS and private hospital accounts.
  • Identify and develop new customers, departments and clinical opportunities.
  • Build trusted relationships with clinicians, nurses, procurement teams, department managers and other key stakeholders.
  • Introduce new products and support product evaluations, trials and conversions.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, clinical education and customer training.
  • Develop key accounts through structured account planning and stakeholder mapping.
  • Manage opportunities from initial identification through evaluation, procurement and commercial close.
  • Maintain a strong and accurate sales pipeline.
  • Use CRM effectively to manage customers, opportunities, activities and follow-up.
  • Work closely with colleagues, clinical specialists, marketing and management to maximise territory opportunities.
  • Represent Mermaid Medical at exhibitions, conferences, workshops and educational events.
  • Monitor competitor activity and provide relevant market intelligence.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity and customer service.

The successful candidate will work across a broad medical device portfolio supporting areas including:

Interventional Radiology & RadiologyBiopsy, drainage and procedural solutions.

UrologySolutions supporting transperineal prostate biopsy and related procedures.

Interventional OncologyIncluding microwave ablation and minimally invasive treatment technologies.

Ultrasound & Infection PreventionUltrasound covers, needle guidance and procedural accessories.

Women’s Health & IVFSolutions supporting ultrasound-guided procedures, fertility and oocyte retrieval.

Additional specialist products and new technologies will continue to be introduced as the Mermaid Medical portfolio develops.

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in medical device, healthcare or hospital sales.
  • A successful track record of managing and growing a sales territory.
  • Experience selling into the NHS hospital environment.
  • Strong business development and account management skills.
  • The confidence to engage with clinicians and senior healthcare stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of value-based selling.
  • The ability to manage multiple product categories and opportunities.
  • Good organisational and territory-management skills.
  • A proactive, resilient and self-motivated approach.
  • Confidence working independently while remaining an active member of a wider sales team.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage opportunities and customer activity.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Experience within Interventional Radiology, Radiology, Urology, Oncology, Ultrasound, IVF or related medical device markets would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in strong medical sales professionals who can demonstrate the ability and motivation to learn.

The Person

We are looking for more than someone who simply maintains existing accounts.

You should be a relationship builder and business developer who is comfortable opening doors, challenging established practices and creating new opportunities.

You will be expected to understand your territory, know your key accounts, develop strong customer relationships and take personal accountability for delivering results.

Clinical credibility is important, but so are commercial discipline, activity, follow-through and the desire to win new business.

Location

Field-based – South West England & South Wales

The successful candidate should ideally live within the territory and be comfortable travelling extensively across South West England and South Wales.
