Full job description

About Us

We are an established, family run specialist steel fabrication and engineering company delivering high-quality stainless steel solutions across the UK, with over 40 years experience. Our core expertise lies within the stone cladding industry, providing bespoke support systems, secondary steelwork, and architectural metalwork for a wide range of prestigious construction projects.

Alongside our cladding-related work, we also deliver structural and bespoke fabrication packages across a variety of sectors. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our expanding newly formed technical team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or someone with up to 2 years’ experience to develop practical engineering skills within a specialist fabrication environment.

You will work closely with experienced engineers, detailers, architects, and fabrication teams to assist in the design and development of stainless steel and structural steel solutions for live construction projects.

The role offers exposure to real-world fabrication constraints, buildability, and project coordination from concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of stainless steel and structural steel components and support systems
  • Prepare engineering calculations and technical reports
  • Support connection and bracket design for cladding and secondary steelwork applications
  • Work alongside detailers to develop fabrication drawings and 3D models
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, and project teams
  • Attend site visits where required
  • Assist in ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and suitable for manufacture
  • Where required, assist with pricing enquires from the commercial department

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng)
  • 0–2 years’ experience within a consultancy or fabrication environment (placements considered)
  • Interest in steel structures, architectural metalwork, or façade/cladding systems
  • Basic understanding of Eurocodes and structural design principles
  • Familiarity with software such as Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar is advantageous but not required as in-house training can be provided.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Motivated, practical, and eager to learn

Desirable

  • Exposure to stainless steel design or fabrication
  • Understanding of connection design or secondary steelwork
  • Working towards chartership (ICE or IStructE)

What We Offer

  • Hands-on experience working on complex and architecturally significant projects
  • Exposure to specialist stainless steel and cladding systems
  • Mentorship and support from experienced engineers
  • Career progression opportunities within a growing business
  • Support towards professional chartership
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Flexible hybrid working
  • Pension scheme
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays

Why Join Us?

This role provides the opportunity to work on technically challenging and visually impressive projects within a specialist area of the construction industry. You’ll gain practical experience that bridges engineering design and real-world fabrication, while developing valuable industry knowledge within a growing and supportive team.

Pay: £28,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
