About the role

Job Title: Mammography Associate Practitioner
Salary: Competitive
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: The Jarvis Breast Centre, Guildford, Surrey
Requirement: Full UK driving licence (essential, as travel to mobile screening sites is required)

Are you looking for a rewarding career in healthcare? Would you like to be part of a service that makes a real difference in early cancer detection? We have a fantastic opportunity to join our dedicated breast screening team as a Mammography Associate Practitioner.

As part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP), we invite women aged 50 to 70 to attend routine mammograms every three years. Our team works from a static unit at The Jarvis Breast Centre in Guildford, as well as five mobile units across Surrey.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You will perform routine high quality screening mammograms, taking part in a rota to work at The Jarvis Centre or at mobile screening sites.

Mammography Associates are required to:

  • Work in line with your Scope of Practice
  • Work under the supervision of a radiographer
  • Prepare individuals, equipment and work environments for clinical mammography
  • Operate specialised mammography equipment safely and within standard operating procedures
  • Reassure, advise and support individuals using effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Consistently produce high quality mammography images to meet rigorous NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records
  • Use information management systems effectively
  • Promote and maintain professional practice
  • Evaluate own technical performance and suggest improvement strategies
  • Perform and document routine regulatory quality control tests on all mammographic equipment
  • Monitor equipment performance and report exceptional results
  • Work as part of the multi-disciplinary breast care team
  • Maintain health and safety in the workplace

About you:
  • Relevant NHSBSP experience with NBSS knowledge
  • Be a driver, willing to drive to any of our sites
  • Perform daily QA on equipment
  • Maintain your individual Image Assessment records. This is keeping in line with NHSBSP Guidance for mammographers document
  • Load and unload clinics for reporting
  • Undertake chaperone duties during assessment clinics
