Job Description:

Job Title: Self-Employed Operative – Garage Maintenance Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Operative to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and maintaining high standards of quality and safety across our sites.

As a Self-Employed Operative, you will be responsible for performing a range of maintenance and repair tasks at local authority garage sites. This is a great opportunity for a multiskilled individual with a strong work ethic and a practical mindset in and around London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily maintenance tasks at local authority garage sites
  • Perform general repairs, including but not limited to:
  • Replacing cables, springs, locks, and handles
  • Installing or fixing guttering
  • Basic roofing repairs
  • Maintain small areas of foliage and grass
  • Conduct visual inspections of garage structures and fittings
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Work independently and manage your own schedule effectively

Required Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration when required
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Physical stamina and capability to carry out manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Prior experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential – a willingness to learn and take on new tasks is key

Requirements:

  • Must be self-employed
  • A suitable vehicle capable of transporting tools and materials safely
  • Valid public liability insurance
  • Must pass a DBS check
