Business Development Manager
George Jones is one of the largest privately owned and managed painting and maintenance contractors in the UK and has been trading since 1899. We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to work in the South East covering Kent and London; you will be working from our Orpington Office.
Ideally you will be degree qualified having gained a qualification within Sales / Marketing or a similar field would be an advantage. Experience of working in a similar role in construction / cyclical maintenance role would be beneficial.
As a key member of business development and sales, you will be responsible for securing new business in the southeast, raising the company profile, and promoting the business among existing and prospective clients.
George Jones employs 150 people, who are currently covering in excess of 20 contracts and are looking to expand across the south east and we are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team at this exciting time.
We work in a wide variety of market sectors including Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Health Authorities, Residential Homes, Schools, Universities and Colleges, also Government Departments, Specialist Projects for the Crown Estate and Facilities Management.
We provide painting, decorating and various maintenance services including pre-decorative repairs, upvc window and door replacement, fencing / gate repairs and replacement, repairs to guttering, fascia and soffits, brickwork repairs and patch rendering.

Key Responsibilities : -
Your key aim will be to win new multi - year contracts and other new work opportunities by your ability to network, consult, negotiate and secure new customers.
You’ll pursue future B2B customer opportunities, and nurture these client relationships to identify where George Jones offerings can add value and increase our customer portfolio.
You'll take ownership for your own success, with the autonomy to initiate and develop, opportunities and relationships for George Jones
Acting as Brand Ambassador for George Jones in the south east you’ll increase company awareness and drive large, successful bids for new multi-year contracts winning new work opportunities through PPQ bids, quotes and tenders.
You will be at home in the public speaking arena, and as part of our team you’ll create and deliver presentations to prospective clients as part of our multi-year contract bids to achieve high win rates.
Who we’re Seeking: -
A business development manager who can demonstrate ,through their achievements, their ability to open doors, identify and build strong relationships with the decision makers, and turn opportunities into successful productive relationships.
A Business Development professional who can demonstrate a career of successfully winning multi-year contracts and new work.
A key player who will have a history of winning work as a self starter with progression in growing a portfolio of customers and or market share.
A people person, that enjoys relationship building, with strong EQ to spot the need for a change in approach, resilience to keep engagement high, and speed of thought to pull new solutions into the mix while thinking on your feet.
Ideally a person with extensive market knowledge and experience within construction or a maintenance background.
A motivated professional with excellent IT skills; you will be confident, polite and courteous when communicating with current and prospective clients and directors, both verbally and in writing. You will have excellent time management and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, working effectively both individually and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications : -
BSc in Sales and Marketing or similar qualification and proven track record of relevant experience working in a similar position within construction/maintenance.
Must hold a full clean driving licence.
