MULTI-TRADE OPERATIVE

Reactive & Planned Maintenance | Social Housing

£38,000 – £42,000 per year + Company Van + Fuel Card + Gym Membership + Training & Progression

Covering Winchester, Basingstoke, Newbury & surrounding areas

Looking for more than just another maintenance job?

If you’re an experienced Multi-Trade Operative who takes pride in your work, enjoys variety and wants to join a company where you can genuinely develop, we’d like to hear from you.

At Coastline Facilities Support Services, we don’t want people to feel like another operative, payroll number or van on a spreadsheet.

We’re building a team for the future.

Coastline is a growing, family-run facilities and maintenance business that has expanded considerably over the last few years, particularly within the housing sector.

Our work now spans reactive maintenance, planned works, voids, refurbishment, specialist maintenance and larger construction projects.

As the company grows, we want the people working with us to grow too.

That means investing in training, qualifications, development, wellbeing, technology and genuine opportunities to progress.

If you have ambition, drive and want to be part of where the company is going — not simply turn up, complete jobs and go home — this could be a very good fit.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to work primarily across:

Winchester | Basingstoke | Newbury | Surrounding Areas

You’ll be working mainly within the housing sector, carrying out a mixture of:

  • Reactive day-to-day maintenance
  • Planned maintenance
  • Occupied property repairs
  • Void property works
  • Kitchen and bathroom repairs
  • Small refurbishment works
  • Follow-on works
  • General property maintenance

You will be provided with a company van and fuel card and receive your work directly through our digital work management system.

No two days are exactly the same.

One day you might be carrying out plumbing and carpentry repairs within occupied homes; the next could involve a bathroom repair, kitchen works, flooring, tiling, a void property, window or door repairs or general property maintenance.

We want someone who can look at a problem, work out the right solution and take pride in getting the job completed properly.

WHAT YOU COULD BE WORKING ON

Your work may include:

  • Reactive repairs within occupied housing
  • Planned maintenance works
  • Void property repairs and turnarounds
  • Plumbing repairs
  • Carpentry and joinery repairs
  • Doors, locks, skirting and architraves
  • Kitchens and worktops
  • Bathroom repairs
  • Sanitaryware
  • Tiling
  • Flooring
  • Wet wall panels / AquaBoards / bathroom cladding
  • Patch plastering and making good
  • Painting and decorating
  • Window and door repairs
  • Basic UPVC repairs and adjustments
  • Fencing and external repairs
  • Guttering, fascia and soffit repairs
  • General building and maintenance works

You do not have to be a specialist in every trade.

What we are looking for is a genuine Multi-Trade Operative with a strong core skill set, good fault-finding ability and the confidence to deal with a broad range of everyday property repairs.

DOING THE JOB RIGHT FIRST TIME

We take first-time fix seriously.

Good maintenance isn't just about turning up and looking at a problem.

It means arriving prepared, carrying the correct tools and stock, diagnosing the issue properly and completing the repair there and then wherever reasonably possible.

We want operatives who think ahead.

That means:

  • Keeping your van organised and appropriately stocked
  • Planning materials before attending
  • Diagnosing problems properly
  • Completing repairs right first time wherever possible
  • Identifying follow-on works clearly
  • Keeping WIP moving
  • Providing accurate updates
  • Taking good quality before, during and after photographs
  • Leaving residents' homes clean and presentable

Quality workmanship matters.

But so do organisation, communication and customer service.

TECHNOLOGY THAT MAKES THE JOB EASIER

We are currently moving across to our own in-house work management platform, Reception 360.

It has been developed using our own experience of running maintenance contracts and is designed around how our operatives and office actually work.

Jobs, appointments, photographs, updates and reporting are managed digitally, allowing information to move between the operative and office team in real time.

You will therefore need to be comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for:

  • Receiving jobs
  • Viewing appointments
  • Updating job status
  • Uploading photographs
  • Recording materials
  • Completing job notes
  • Reporting variations and follow-on works
  • Closing completed jobs

You don't need to be a technology expert.

You just need to be comfortable using a mobile device and giving the office good, accurate information.

WORKING IN PEOPLE'S HOMES

A large part of our work takes place in occupied properties.

Our operatives are the face of Coastline when they walk through a resident's front door.

We therefore expect you to be:

  • Friendly
  • Respectful
  • Presentable
  • Reliable
  • Professional
  • Good at communicating
  • Conscious that you are working inside someone's home

Protecting the property, explaining what you're doing and leaving the work area clean and safe are just as important as completing the repair itself.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Ideally you'll have:

  • At least 3 years' experience within Multi-Trade or property maintenance
  • Experience within reactive and/or planned maintenance
  • Strong practical experience across several trades
  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding ability
  • Experience working within occupied properties
  • Good customer service skills
  • The ability to organise your own workload
  • Good written job notes and reporting
  • Confidence using a smartphone or tablet
  • Your own hand tools
  • A full UK driving licence
  • High standards of workmanship

Previous experience working with housing associations, local authorities, social housing, voids or responsive repairs would be a strong advantage.

Trade qualifications, NVQs, CSCS, Asbestos Awareness and additional industry qualifications are also advantageous.

WHAT YOU GET FROM COASTLINE

We want the package to be about more than just your basic salary.

Salary

£38,000 – £42,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Company Van & Fuel Card

Company vehicle and fuel card provided for your working day.

31 Days Off

23 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays.

We also reward loyalty with additional annual leave as your service with Coastline grows.

Health & Wellbeing Gym Membership

Access to a Hussle health and wellbeing gym membership through Coastline, providing access to a wide network of participating gyms and fitness facilities.

We believe looking after our team shouldn't stop when the working day finishes.

Training & Development

If there are areas where additional training could develop your skills or career, we want to support that.

As Coastline grows, we want to develop more skills internally and give good people the opportunity to progress.

Training and development opportunities may include:

  • Additional trade skills
  • Industry qualifications
  • Health & Safety training
  • Specialist maintenance skills
  • Product and manufacturer training
  • Supervisory development
  • Career development opportunities

Genuine Career Progression

We're growing.

That creates opportunities.

For the right people, there will be opportunities to develop into more senior operative, supervisory, specialist and management positions as the company expands.

Full Company Uniform

Professional Coastline uniform provided.

Team Events

Regular company and team-building events.

We're a working team and we want people to actually know the people they work alongside.

Company Pension

Workplace pension scheme.

Supportive Team Culture

We're big enough to offer consistent contracts, good systems and progression — but still small enough that people know who you are.

You'll have direct access to the team running the business rather than disappearing into layers of management.

WHY COASTLINE?

Because we're not trying to build another faceless maintenance contractor.

We're building a business that good people want to stay with.

Coastline has experienced significant growth within the housing maintenance sector and we're continuing to expand into larger planned works, refurbishment and construction projects.

We're investing heavily in the business — including new technology, training, systems, equipment and our people.

And we're looking for people who want to be part of that journey.

You bring the workmanship, attitude and ambition.

We'll give you the support, opportunities, training and environment to keep developing.

If you want a job where you're simply handed a van and a list of jobs, there are plenty of those available.

If you want to join a company where your contribution is noticed and where there's genuine room to grow, we'd like to talk to you.

APPLY TODAY

Send us your CV through Indeed.

We personally review applications and are interested in speaking to good tradespeople even if your experience doesn't tick absolutely every box above.
