JOB DESCRIPTION – Roofing & Maintenance Apprentice

Roofing Apprenticeship

You will ensure that properties remain well-kept and looking their best, by completing a range of maintenance tasks across the year.

Additionally, you will:

· Ensure the overall upkeep of the site.

· Carry out regular assessments of any issues that may have arisen.

· Report issues where necessary.

· Make sure our properties are presented to a high standard.

· Ensure the grounds and buildings remain tidy.

· Undertake landscaping and litter-picking activities.

· Complete mowing of grass, leaf clearing and sweeping up as required.

· Complete power washing as and where needed.

· Painting and decorating as and when needed.

· Assisting with Joinery and general building works.

Roofing Apprenticeship Duties:

· Work alongside experienced roofers to learn the installation, repair and maintenance of pitched and flat roofs.

· Assist with slate, tile, leadwork, roofline (fascias, soffits and guttering) and waterproofing systems.

· Safely use roofing tools, equipment and access systems under supervision.

· Learn to identify roofing defects and carry out repairs to a high standard.

· Follow all health and safety procedures, including working at height and manual handling.

· Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.

· Attend all college and training provider sessions as part of the Scottish Construction: Building Modern Apprenticeship (Roofing Occupations pathway).

· Work towards achieving the SVQ in Roofing (Construction) at SCQF Level 5, with progression to SCQF Level 6 where appropriate.

· Complete workplace evidence, assessments and any apprenticeship portfolio required by the training provider.

· Represent Bute Island Developments Ltd professionally when working at customer properties.

Ideal Candidate

· Must have a good command of written and spoken English.

· Ability to work set hours and be flexible to meet the operational requirements of Bute Island Developments Ltd.

· · Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £16,640 (£8.00 per hour), 1st year apprentice with annual pay reviews and opportunities for progression.

Schedule: 40 hour working week

• Typical shift is 8am to 16:40 (40-minute unpaid lunch) with weekends and travel to other properties in Scotland as and when required (5 out of 7 days per week)

Work Location: In person
