Class 1 HGV Driver

Ambrose Logistics are looking for a reliable Class 1 (C+E) driver to join our growing team based in Cambridgeshire.

We carry out a mixture of UK and European haulage work, operating curtain-sided, refrigerated and box trailers. The role will mainly involve UK work, with occasional European trips available where suitable.

Work includes a mix of ongoing contracted work and ad hoc deliveries, so flexibility is important. Nights out will be required depending on the workload.

Duties

  • Carry out deliveries and collections across the UK, with occasional European work where required
  • Operate curtain-sided, refrigerated, and box trailers safely and professionally
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly
  • Ensure loads are secured correctly and transported in line with company and legal requirements
  • Complete delivery paperwork and PODs accurately
  • Maintain communication with transport planners regarding schedules, delays, or any issues on the road
  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers and delivery sites
  • Adhere to all drivers’ hours, working time, and road transport regulations
  • Keep vehicles clean and well presented

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence
  • Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card
  • Previous Class 1 driving experience preferred
  • Good understanding of drivers’ hours and working time regulations
  • Comfortable with nights out and flexible working patterns where required
  • Experience with refrigerated or curtain-sided work advantageous but not essential
  • European driving experience beneficial but not required
  • ADR qualification advantageous but not essential
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude
