HGV Class 1 C+E Driver – Container Transport

Seafast Containers Limited is a long-established, family-run transport company based just outside Southampton Docks. We specialise in nationwide container transport and have built our reputation on reliability, professionalism and treating our drivers with respect.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for dependable and experienced HGV Class 1 C+E Drivers to join our container transport team.

This is a full-time, permanent role offering consistent weekday work, a supportive transport office, well-maintained vehicles and a straightforward, organised working environment.

The Role

The role involves UK-wide container collections and deliveries, working from our Marchwood base near Southampton Docks.

Duties include:

• Driving HGV Class 1 C+E vehicles for container transport.
• Collecting and delivering containers across the UK.
• Completing PODs and daily vehicle checks using our mobile app.
• Carrying out accurate defect reporting.
• Communicating with the transport office throughout the day.
• Operating safely and compliantly in line with company procedures.
• Maintaining a professional approach with customers, ports and sites.
• Looking after the vehicle and equipment provided.

Container or port experience is helpful, but not essential, as training and support can be provided to the right experienced Class 1 driver.

Pay & Incentives

• Monthly earnings between £3,358 and £4,200 gross, including bonuses.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 C+E licence.
• Minimum 6 months’ active and verifiable Class 1 driving experience.
• Valid Driver CPC card.
• Valid Digital Tachograph card.
• Good understanding of drivers’ hours, tachograph rules and daily vehicle checks.
• Professional attitude and good communication skills.
• Ability to work safely, reliably and independently.
• Maximum 6 penalty points considered, subject to insurance approval.

Desirable but not essential:

• Container experience.
• Port card.
• Southampton Docks / port work experience.
• Experience using transport apps or electronic POD systems.

Important Experience Requirement

For insurance purposes, applicants must have a minimum of 6 months’ active and verifiable HGV Class 1 C+E driving experience.

This means we need to be able to clearly confirm your Class 1 experience through your CV, employment history, agency work, references or other verifiable records.

Applicants who hold a C+E licence but do not yet have at least 6 months’ active Class 1 driving experience may not meet our current insurance requirements.
