Full job description

Senior HR Advisor
Location: Mortimer (office based)
Salary: £36,000 – £40,000 DOE, with scope for growth
Hours: Full-time, permanent

We are a growing organisation in the education and children's services sector, seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join our expanding HR function.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and resilient HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across multiple sites and teams. Partnering with colleagues across Operations, Finance, Quality Assurance, Training and Care/Education Leadership Teams, you will play a key role in supporting managers, driving best practice, and helping the organisation continue to grow successfully.

While experience within education, care, or other regulated environments would be beneficial, it is not essential. We can provide sector-specific training; what matters most is your ability to apply sound HR judgement, build credibility quickly and confidently support and challenge managers where required.

You will be trusted to work independently, managing complex employee relations matters and influencing decision-making, while also collaborating closely with colleagues across the wider business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a varied workload of both proactive HR initiatives and reactive operational matters across multiple sites.
  • Building strong working relationships with managers and leaders across a variety of sites and central support functions.
  • Taking ownership of complex employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters.
  • Providing practical, commercially focused HR advice that balances legal compliance, business needs and employee wellbeing.
  • Supporting and challenging managers to make confident, well-informed decisions.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Quality Assurance and Training teams to support organisational objectives.
  • Reviewing and improving HR policies, processes and ways of working to reflect best practice.
  • Contributing to wider HR projects including workforce planning, employee engagement, organisational development and culture initiatives.
  • Travelling between sites as required to provide visible and effective HR support.

About you

  • You have solid HR advisory experience with a strong track record of managing complex employee relations cases.
  • You are confident working independently, taking ownership of decisions and prioritising your workload effectively.
  • Equally, you thrive as part of a team and can balance autonomy with teamwork, knowing when to take the lead, when to seek input from others, and how to contribute positively to shared goals.
  • You are resilient, professional and comfortable supporting and constructively challenging managers at all levels, including senior leaders.
  • You take a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to HR rather than relying solely on policy interpretation.
  • You can balance competing priorities and remain calm, organised and effective in a pressured, fast paced environment
  • You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills and can quickly establish credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • You are adaptable, commercially aware and comfortable supporting a growing organisation through change.
  • Experience within education, children's services, care, or another regulated environment is beneficial but not essential.
  • You understand when to seek guidance, specialist advice or escalation, while maintaining ownership of your work.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary of £36,000-£40,000 DOE, with scope to grow in a rapidly expanding organisation with a meaningful purpose.
  • The opportunity to influence and shape HR practices within a growing multi-site business.
  • Friendly office-based environment and free lunches.
  • Autonomy to make a real impact while working as part of a collaborative HR team.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, life insurance, car scheme, free holiday accommodation and a range of discounts.

Equality and Diversity

Amegreen is committed to being an organisation that allows people to be their authentic selves in a safe and inclusive environment. We are actively building diverse teams and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you require any accessibility adjustments to support your application, please contact us.

Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount
  • Free parking
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking
  • Referral programme
  • Sick pay

Application question(s):

  • This role is full-time and office-based in Mortimer, with occasional travel to our local sites. Are you able to reliably commute to Mortimer and travel between local sites as needed?
  • How many years of experience do you have managing complex Employee Relations cases (e.g., disciplinaries, grievances, capability, and performance) end-to-end?
  • Are you willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and full pre-employment vetting appropriate for a children's services setting?
