Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registrar Haematologist (ST3+) to join our dynamic hematology team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering expert patient care, supporting clinical research initiatives, and contributing to the ongoing development of hematology services. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a collaborative NHS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with haematological disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Support senior clinicians in complex case management, including interpretation of laboratory and imaging results related to blood disorders.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of clinical research projects, including data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
  • Participate in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, nursing teams, and medical students to promote best practices in haematology care.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical governance standards, safety protocols, and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities to maintain registration and stay current with advances in haematology.

Requirements

  • Medical degree with full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of core medical training or equivalent experience with demonstrable progression towards specialty training in haematology (ST3 or higher).
  • Proven experience in clinical research related to hematology or blood disorders is desirable.
  • ICU experience or exposure to critical care settings is advantageous for managing acutely ill patients.
  • Knowledge of anatomy relevant to hematological conditions and proficiency in interpreting medical imaging related to blood disorders.
  • Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to diverse patient populations including those in nursing homes, hospice care, or home care settings.
  • Familiarity with medication administration protocols specific to hematology treatments.
  • Additional experience in public health initiatives or senior care environments will be considered a plus.

Essential Requirements

  • Only NHS experience is considered for this role.
  • Need to have minimum 18-24 months experience as middle grade in Haematology.
  • Minimum 3 years of NHS references through 2 different consultants you have worked with.
  • Must be on the Haematology Register (essential).
  • Should be flexible with long term requirement until Feb 2027.
  • Right to work in the UK.
