Raoul Wigmakers is an independent business based in Paddington, London, home to London's oldest wig-making studio, established in 1899.

We specialise in high-quality wigs and hairpieces for NHS patients and private clients with medical, cosmetic and theatrical needs. We pride ourselves on our expertise, personal service and care for every client.

About the role

Are you an experienced hairdresser looking for a change in career?

This is an exciting opportunity to use your existing hairdressing skills in a specialist area of the industry. You will combine traditional hairdressing with wig styling and consultancy, learning new skills while making a genuine difference to clients' confidence and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Cutting, colouring and styling wigs and hairpieces.
  • Providing salon hairdressing services where required.
  • Advising clients on suitable wigs, styles and products.
  • Providing friendly, professional and empathetic customer service.
  • Managing appointments and prioritising your workload.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.
  • Developing your knowledge of wig styling and consultancy.

Previous wig experience is beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided. A willingness to learn and a genuine interest in the industry are important.

About you

You must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing or at least five years of salon experience.
  • Strong cutting and styling skills.
  • Good colour knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A friendly, patient and empathetic approach.
  • A professional appearance and manner.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines and use your initiative.

You should be confident in your hairdressing abilities and keen to develop your skills in a new area of the industry.

Salary and commission

The advertised salary is plus commission, which we would expect to average approximately £200–£700 per month, depending on performance and sales.
