Full job description

We are looking for a reliable and practical Handyman / Caretaker to support the day-to-day maintenance of our residential accommodation property in Leicester.

The role is ideal for someone with good general maintenance and DIY skills who can work independently and respond to everyday repair and maintenance issues.

Main Duties

  • General repairs and maintenance around the property
  • Minor plumbing repairs, such as leaking taps, toilets and shower fittings
  • Basic carpentry, including doors, locks, handles and furniture repairs
  • Painting, decorating and minor patch repairs
  • Checking bedrooms, flats and communal areas for maintenance issues
  • Preparing rooms for new residents
  • Replacing or repairing fixtures and fittings
  • Assisting with moving furniture and maintenance materials
  • Keeping communal and external areas in good condition
  • Reporting larger or specialist repairs to management
  • Providing access and assistance to contractors when required
  • Responding to occasional urgent maintenance call-outs

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous handyman, caretaker or property maintenance experience preferred
  • Good general DIY and repair skills
  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable working in occupied residential accommodation
  • Able to identify when specialist contractors are required
  • Flexible to attend occasional urgent call-outs

Experience within student accommodation, residential blocks, HMOs, hotels or similar properties would be an advantage.

Start: Immediate / as soon as possible.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week

Work Location: In person
