Full job description

You'd be the person a Bath homeowner trusts in their house. Not a site, not a rota, not a call centre: useful jobs, done properly, at hours you pick. About us A Hand Around The House is a small home-help and handyman business in Bath. We sort the jobs that pile up: painting, small repairs, woodwork, flat-pack, garden tidies and odd jobs. Customers come back because we turn up when we say we will, leave the place tidy and are honest about time and price. Those three things matter more to us than anything, and they're what we'll ask of you. We're busy and taking on two experienced helpers so we can say yes to more work. What you'll do - Painting and decorating, inside and out - Carpentry and light woodwork: doors, shelves, skirting, repairs - General maintenance and small repairs - Garden tidies, clearance and labouring on bigger jobs - Work alongside us at first, then take suitable jobs on your own once signed off Pay and how it works - £20/hr skilled: painting and decorating, carpentry and woodwork, more complex maintenance, and solo customer jobs once you're signed off - £15/hr general: labouring, clearance, basic garden tidies, and helping on a job under supervision - Paid by bank transfer within 7 days of each job. You invoice us; we send a simple template. - Choose the jobs and hours you want. No minimum, no rota. - Start with one paid half-day working alongside us. No unpaid trials, ever. Who this suits Semi-retired and want useful hours. Part-time elsewhere and want good extra work. Practical, but stuck in a job that doesn't use it. This isn't a typical trade job and we're not after a typical tradie. What we need - Proven hands-on experience in at least two of: painting, carpentry/woodwork, maintenance, handyman work, gardening - Clean, tidy and polite in people's homes. No smoking on jobs. - On time, and you tell us early if something changes - A way to get to jobs around Bath (own transport preferred) - Registered, or happy to register, as self-employed with HMRC - Your own basic tools are a plus To apply Apply through Indeed with three lines: what work you've done, where you're based, and which days you're usually free. No CV needed. We reply to every suitable applicant within one working day to book a 10-minute call. Self-employed people are required to register as self-employed with HMRC and are responsible for paying their own tax and National Insurance contributions.

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour

Application question(s):

  • Which of these have you done for paying customers: painting/decorating, carpentry/woodwork, general maintenance, garden work? (Please list at least two)
  • Can you get to jobs around Bath? (Yes/No)
  • Are you registered, or happy to register, as self-employed? (Yes/No)
