About Reliant Contract Services Ltd

Reliant Contract Services Ltd is a growing facilities maintenance and mechanical services company delivering reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), compliance works and refurbishment projects across commercial and domestic properties.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Handyman / Fabric Engineer with strong general building maintenance skills and basic plumbing experience to join our team covering the Sussex region.

The Role

As a Handyman / Fabric Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of reactive maintenance, planned maintenance and minor project works across commercial and domestic properties.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, diagnosing basic faults and completing a variety of general maintenance tasks to a high standard.

Typical Duties

  • General fabric maintenance and repairs
  • Basic plumbing repairs and installations
  • Tap, toilet and basin repairs
  • Shower repairs and replacements
  • Silicone and mastic sealing
  • Door, lock and ironmongery repairs
  • Minor carpentry and joinery works
  • Patch plastering and making good
  • Painting and decorating
  • Flooring and ceiling repairs
  • Kitchen and bathroom maintenance
  • Basic fault finding
  • Reactive maintenance and minor remedial works
  • Completing electronic job sheets, reports and photographic records
  • Liaising professionally with customers, tenants and site representatives
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and professional working environment
  • Working in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Handyman, Fabric Engineer or Building Maintenance Engineer
  • Practical experience with basic plumbing
  • Experience carrying out reactive maintenance
  • Good all-round knowledge of building and fabric maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Professional, reliable and customer-focused approach
  • Pride in the quality of your workmanship

Desirable – Not Essential

  • Facilities Management experience
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Plumbing qualifications
  • CSCS Card
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Working at Height training
  • Health & Safety qualifications or experience
  • Experience working within occupied domestic properties and commercial premises
