Full job description

We are looking for a reliable, practical General Maintenance Assistant to join the team at The Harper Hotel. You will help keep the hotel safe, clean, and in excellent working order for our guests and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs across the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back of house
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring guest rooms are returned to service quickly
  • Complete general DIY tasks such as basic plumbing, painting, decorating, furniture repairs, and fixtures and fittings
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks, including fire safety, emergency lighting, and water temperature checks, and keep accurate records
  • Assist with the upkeep of the hotel grounds and exterior areas
  • Report any larger issues or specialist repairs to the Maintenance Manager or General Manager
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and stores in a tidy and organised condition
  • Follow all health and safety procedures at all times

About you

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or similar practical role (hotel or hospitality experience is an advantage, but not essential)
  • Good general DIY skills across a range of trades
  • Able to prioritise tasks and work independently as well as part of a team
  • A friendly, professional manner when working around guests
  • Good communication skills and a flexible attitude
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable
  • Right to work in the UK
