Arable Farm Worker/ Machinery Operator

Salary: £32,000–£38,000 per annum, depending on experience

An opportunity has arisen for an Arable Farm Worker to join our family farming business in Warwickshire.

P. Hughes Ltd operates arable and poultry enterprises with a strong focus on high animal welfare standards, biosecurity, environmental stewardship and sustainable farming practices. We utilise modern machinery and precision farming technology, including GPS guidance systems and variable rate applications.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated individual who enjoys practical farm work and takes pride in operating and maintaining machinery to a high standard.

The Role

The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of farm operations throughout the year, including:

• Telehandler work, including loading woodchip bins, lorries and moving palletised goods
• Tractor operations including hedge cutting, topping, cultivations, rolling, trailer work and dirty water application
• Loading shovel work, including handling poultry manure and compost
• General farm and estate maintenance
• Machinery servicing and routine maintenance
• Fence, building and infrastructure repairs
• Maintaining high standards of farm tidiness, safety and biosecurity
• Assisting with seasonal arable operations as required

This is a varied role offering responsibility and the opportunity to develop skills within a progressive farming business using modern machinery and technology.

The successful applicant will be expected to operate modern agricultural machinery independently following an initial familiarisation period.

• Has previous agricultural experience
• Is capable of working independently and using their own initiative
• Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Is mechanically minded and enjoys maintaining machinery
• Is a safe and responsible machinery operator
• Can work effectively as part of a small team
• Is willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Is practical, reliable and able to solve problems when they arise

Essential Requirements

• Previous agricultural and machinery experience
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to undertake physically demanding work
• Good communication skills

Desirable

• Telehandler certificate
• Tractor and machinery experience
• Loading shovel experience
• PA1/PA2 or other agricultural qualifications

Further training and certification can be provided for the right candidate.
