Front of House Staff

Tomatitos is a Spanish tapas bar in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, under new management.

We’re looking for great front of house people to join our team — experienced bartenders, confident waiters and people who genuinely enjoy working in a busy restaurant and bar.

We’re not looking for someone who simply wants a job. We want people who enjoy hospitality, love talking to customers, take pride in what they do and want to be part of making Tomatitos somewhere people really want to come back to.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in a busy bar, restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred.
• Confident serving wine, beer, cocktails and spirits.
• Great waiting skills — taking orders, running food, keeping on top of your tables and making sure guests are looked after from start to finish.
• A genuine interest in food and drink, particularly Spanish food, wine and tapas.
• A big personality, plenty of energy and a naturally friendly approach.
• Someone who is comfortable in a busy service and can keep their head when things get hectic.
• A team player who is also confident using their own initiative.
• Someone who notices the little things — an empty glass, a table that needs clearing or a customer who needs a bit of extra attention.
• Well presented, reliable and professional.
• Most importantly, someone who genuinely likes people.

The job

You’ll be part of the front of house team and will work across both the bar and restaurant, so no two shifts will necessarily look the same.

Depending on the shift, you could be:

• Welcoming guests and looking after your own tables.
• Taking food and drink orders.
• Running and explaining dishes.
• Preparing and serving beers, wines, cocktails and other drinks.
• Recommending dishes or drinks to customers.
• Keeping the bar and restaurant looking great throughout service.
• Taking payments and using our till system.
• Helping the wider team keep service running smoothly.
• Creating the kind of experience that makes people want to come back.

We’re particularly interested in people who are confident behind a bar or have strong restaurant waiting experience, although the right attitude and personality are just as important.
