Full job description

Chief Executive Officer

An exceptional opportunity to lead a respected local charity and transform young lives. (salary £60 - £70000 and applications seeking reduced hours considered) NEWARK BASED.

Since 1994, Newark Emmaus Trust (NET) has been helping young people experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives. As an independent charity, NET provides safe accommodation, care, support and education, offering far more than a roof over someone's head. Through stability, opportunity and personal development, the Trust empowers young people to build confidence, develop life skills and move towards independent, fulfilling futures.

As Chief Executive Officer, you will have the opportunity to shape the next chapter of this well-established and highly regarded charity. Working alongside a passionate and committed team, you will provide inspirational leadership, ensuring the continued delivery of outstanding services while driving the organisation's long-term sustainability, growth and impact.

This is a role where your leadership will leave a lasting legacy—for the charity, its people and the young lives it supports.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Develop and deliver a sustainable fundraising and income generation strategy.
  • Build strong relationships across the local business community to attract sponsors, partners and supporters.
  • Create an engaging programme of fundraising and community events, positioning NET as the charity of choice for local organisations and donors.
  • Lead the strategic development of the charity, identifying opportunities to enhance services, strengthen infrastructure and expand its impact.
  • Work closely with the Management Committee to develop strategy, policy and governance.
  • Ensure the highest standards of service delivery, regulatory compliance and safeguarding.
  • Oversee the management and development of accommodation, education and support services for residents.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a dedicated team, creating a positive culture where people feel valued, supported and empowered to deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Ensure effective financial management and the long-term sustainability of the Trust.

About you

You are an experienced strategic leader with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable young people.

You will bring:

  • Experience of leading an organisation or significant service, ideally within the charity, housing or public sector.
  • A successful track record of developing strategy and delivering organisational growth.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience of fundraising, income generation or developing external partnerships.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, balancing differing priorities while maintaining the charity's values and mission.
  • Experience of leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
  • An understanding of governance, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

Experience within a charity and/or supported housing environment would be advantageous, although applications from candidates with transferable leadership experience are welcomed.

Join us

This is a rare opportunity to lead an organisation with a proud history, a dedicated team and an ambitious future. If you are an inspiring leader who wants to make a tangible difference to the lives of young people experiencing homelessness, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please submit your CV together with a covering letter explaining your interest in the role and how your experience meets the requirements of the position as soon as possible.

Pay: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
