Reports To: Managing Director

Location: Office-based across Group locations with UK travel

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per annum (DOE) with annual performance and salary review.

Job Purpose

The Head of Commercial Growth & Commissioning is responsible for driving the commercial growth, financial sustainability and commissioning strategy across all current and future companies within the Group. Working closely with the Managing Director and Accountant, the post holder will lead business development, commissioning, brokerage, commercial performance, strategic partnerships, acquisitions and market expansion across both CQC-regulated Adult Services and Ofsted-regulated Children's Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Group Commercial Growth Strategy.
  • Increase occupancy and referral activity across all Group services.
  • Build relationships with Adult and Children's Commissioners, Brokerage Teams, Children's Placement Teams, ICBs, NHS Trusts, CHC Teams, private commissioners, housing associations and education providers.
  • Lead on framework applications, tender submissions and commercial proposals.
  • Write high-quality tenders and complete detailed placement costings.
  • Negotiate fee rates, contract variations and annual uplifts.
  • Identify new services, geographical expansion and acquisition opportunities.
  • Support commercial due diligence and integration of newly acquired businesses.
  • Work with Registered Managers and Responsible Individuals to improve occupancy and commercial performance.
  • Represent the Group at commissioning meetings, provider forums and networking events.

Commercial & Financial Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Managing Director and Accountant to review financial performance.
  • Analyse profit and loss, occupancy, staffing costs, revenue and margins.
  • Develop pricing models and ensure placements are commercially viable.
  • Produce monthly commercial reports, KPI dashboards and forecasts.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic commercial leadership across all Group companies.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in achieving business objectives.
  • Promote innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Present commercial reports and recommendations to Directors.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Occupancy growth.
  • New commissioned contracts secured.
  • Fee uplifts negotiated.
  • Tender success rate.

Person Specification

  • Extensive experience within Adult and/or Children's Social Care.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC and Ofsted regulated services.
  • Experience in commissioning, brokerage and business development.
  • Experience writing tenders and completing placement costings.
  • Excellent commercial, financial and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports and develop pricing models.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
