Full job description
Smarta Healthcare is an awarding pharmacy and healthcare company based in Bedford. We are currently recruiting for an Apprentice Pharmacy Services Assistant to support our team of Pharmacists, Technicians and Dispensers.
The apprentice role will provide support with daily pharmacy operations, tasks, projects, and patient services. They will work as part of a pharmacy team under the supervision of the registered Pharmacist and to ensure an accurate, timely, high-quality counter service is provided to our customers in a caring, friendly, and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Dispensing Support: Assisting with the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the process.
- Stock Management: Maintaining appropriate stock levels, checking expiry dates, and assisting with the ordering and rotation of medicines.
- Customer Service: Delivering excellent customer service by responding to enquiries, referring to pharmacists when necessary, and providing advice on over-the-counter medicines.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhering to all health and safety regulations, data protection policies, and confidentiality requirements.
- Administrative Tasks: Providing support with paperwork, filing prescriptions, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Future Prospect
It is hoped that the successful candidate will remain with Smarta Healthcare and continue to grow their career within the pharmacy industry, following the completion of their apprenticeship.
Skills Required
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Abilities: Able to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent Listening Skills: Attentive and responsive to ensure accurate understanding of needs and instructions.
- High Level of Accuracy: Detail-oriented with a focus on precision in all tasks, particularly those involving prescriptions and records.
- Organisational Skills: Capable of managing time and tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience of dealing with the public in person and by phone
Qualifications Required
- GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Training Provided
- Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprentice – provides a foundation for further training and career progression within the pharmacy sector.
- End-Point Assessment (EPA).
- You will be mentored by your designated supervisor and given ample paid time away from your duties to study.
- Additionally, you will have the opportunity to complete further courses, such as Dispensary Assistant.
