Job Purpose

BBC Studios is hiring a Curation Editor for bbc.com, based in London. We continue to consolidate and enhance our BBCwebsite and apps for global audiences outside the UK, including in North America. You will be part of the team curating thisexperience, including managing the home page and other key indexes during UK morning hours — a critical window for bothour global audience and our cross-timezone editorial operation.

The right candidate will demonstrate strong editorial judgment, a sharp eye for engaging headlines and visuals, and a keensense of U.S. and global audience needs in the digital space. This role sits within the Audience Development team as part ofour Global Digital News & Streaming division and reports to the Lead Curation Editor.

Principle Accountabilities

• Be responsible for the effective promotion of news & factual content across the site and app during UK morning hours,while rigorously adhering to our editorial values and guidelines. That includes consulting with or referring up as needed.
• Collaborate with editors across the BBC, including in our public service News and Sport divisions, on daily priorities andscheduling, as well as curation of big events and initiatives.
• Always think about the mix of stories, formats and audience needs at different times of the day and for your geographicalzone.
• Make sure our headlines are sharp and our image choices work for small mobile screens.
• Stay on top of breaking news and ensure changes are made quickly. Be able to plan and write accurate and concise pushalerts.
• Help drive new learnings and insights to elevate on-site experience and deepen user journeys through A/B testing, strategicexperimentation, and performance analysis in consultation with your team leader.
• Prepare and share clear and informative handover notes. Flag any site or CMS issues or bugs to colleagues in IT or productin a clear and timely manner.
• Weekend and public holiday shift work is required as part of team rotation and to meet operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Professional Experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Candidates should have digital journalism experience, ideally in the news curation space.
• Be able to work well under pressure and to prioritise effectively, even when dealing with competing demands.
• Have a broad and deep interest in news and factual content, and comfort with interpreting audience data to informdecisions.
• Collaborative self-starter, able to work with colleagues across editorial, commercial, audience development, analytics, andproduct.
• Desire to understand, in detail, the consumer experience on BBC digital products.
• Enthusiasm for the BBC's unique position as a trusted news brand and an understanding of the importance of impartiality— and what it means in practice.
• Evidence of having a positive impact on newsroom culture.
• Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and pivot as newsdemands.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• An ability to function in a matrixed organisation and work effectively across teams and time zones.

Professional Experience

• 3+ years' experience working in digital publishing in a news environment.
• Prior experience as a homepage producer or editor, ideally in a news context.
• Experience with push notifications, content optimisation and A/B testing is also desired.
• Strong attention to detail.

Package Description

Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflectsinternal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Permanent role
Location: Office Base is London; Television Centre. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance officeworking with home working.
