Job Title: Medical Laboratory Assistant
Department: Sample Reception
Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164 - 178 Cromwell Road, London, SW5 0TU
Contract /Hours: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary range: Up to £33,818 per annum DOE inclusive of regional pay allowance

With our core laboratory based at The Halo Building in London WC1H 9AX, we also have an expanding site in Manchester as well as smaller hospital-based laboratories across the country. We maintain rigorously high standards of quality, whilst also delivering efficiencies to healthcare through careful workforce planning, pioneering technology and significant investment in infrastructure and IT.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join our multidisciplinary Pathology Laboratory at Bupa Cromwell Hospital.
Our laboratory provides a comprehensive pathology service within a modern and supportive environment, offering excellent opportunities for training and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and register samples using WinPath
  • Handle client enquiries via telephone and email
  • Refer samples to the main laboratory (Halo) when required
  • Process urgent and specialist specimens
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with quality and safety standards
Working Hours
  • Rotational shifts between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Occasional Saturday shifts
Essential Requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team environment
  • Good IT skills and confidence using laboratory systems
Desirable
  • Previous laboratory, pathology, or healthcare experience
  • Experience using WinPath or a similar LIMS
