Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship


This is a paid apprenticeship combining hands-on experience with a nationally recognised Level 2 Adult Care qualification. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting older and vulnerable adults and wants to build a rewarding career in care.


Apprenticeship Overview:


  • Salary: £8.00 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday - Sunday (A rota will be provided with your working hours for each day)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Duration: 13 months
  • Level 2 Adult Care Apprenticeship standard qualification
  • Online training supported by our dedicated tutor
  • Location: First Floor, One Bell, 90 High Street, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD17 2BW (You will be required to travel across Watford and surrounding Hertfordshire areas)

What You’ll Do:


As an Adult Care Worker Apprentice, you will support service users in their own homes, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Supporting older and vulnerable adults with personal care, including washing, dressing, continence care and mobility.
  • Assisting with meal preparation and supporting individuals with their daily routines.
  • Prompting and, once trained and assessed as competent, administering medication.
  • Encouraging service users to maintain their independence, social connections and usual routines.
  • Completing accurate care records on the electronic care system after each visit.
  • Identifying and immediately reporting any concerns regarding a service user's health, safety or wellbeing.
  • Following safeguarding policies and all care procedures.

Your Training & Support

You will receive comprehensive training and support throughout your apprenticeship, including:


  • A full induction and completion of the Care Certificate before working independently.
  • Full training in moving and handling, medication and safeguarding.
  • Initial shadowing alongside experienced carers.
  • No unsupervised personal care until you have been fully trained, assessed and signed off as competent.
  • A minimum of 6 hours of paid off-the-job training each week towards your qualification.
  • Regular one-to-one supervision and spot checks.
  • Ongoing support from a Team Leader.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this apprenticeship, you must:


  • Be able to travel reliably across Watford and surrounding Hertfordshire areas.
  • Hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle – this is mandatory.
  • Be willing to work a rota that may include weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting older and vulnerable people.

Qualifications:


  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 4–9 (A*–C) desirable
