Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities.
- Administer medications accurately in accordance with prescribed care plans and medical terminology.
- Support residents with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met and dietary restrictions are adhered to.
- Implement and update individualised care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including behaviour management strategies for dementia or Alzheimer's patients.
- Assist with specialised activities such as hospice care or case management as required.
- Maintain detailed records of patient progress, medication administration, and behaviour observations.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a warm and welcoming environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, medical professionals, and family members to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Handle heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility or transfers.
- Support the organisation of activities that promote mental and physical well-being for residents in assisted living or care home settings.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, including infection control protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience in nursing home, care home, or assisted living environments; experience in dementia care is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications such as first aid certification are essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and patient care techniques.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies for residents with cognitive impairments.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with caregiving roles.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple residents’ needs effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others through dedicated caregiving.
This role offers an enriching career path within the healthcare sector for those committed to delivering compassionate patient-centred support in a professional environment that values expertise and empathy.
