Full job description

Graduate Support Worker - Children's Short Breaks

WE DO NOT PROVIDE VISA SPONSORSHIP. PLEASE DON’T APPLY IF YOU REQUIRE THIS.

Are you looking for meaningful frontline experience before a career in social work, healthcare, child psychology or a similar field?

At The Pines, you’ll gain real, hands-on experience supporting children and young people between 5-18 years with learning disabilities and complex health needs.

This is not an easy job – and it’s not for everyone.

You’ll need to be calm, patient and resilient, able to respond appropriately when things don’t go to plan and remain professional during challenging situations.

You’ll also need to be comfortable providing personal care, administering medication and supporting children with behaviours that challenge.

The role can be demanding, both physically and emotionally, but it offers valuable frontline experience and the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

You’ll develop skills in:

  • Supporting children with complex needs and behaviours that challenge
  • Person-centred care and communication
  • Personal care and medication
  • Managing challenging situations
  • Promoting independence and confidence
  • Safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Working within support plans and professional teams

You don’t need years of care experience. We’re looking for people who are compassionate, reliable, resilient and genuinely motivated to make a difference.

We’ll provide the training and support you need.

What do you get?

  • Genuine frontline experience for your future career
  • Excellent training and ongoing development
  • Support from an experienced team
  • Opportunities to work towards your Level 3 qualification
  • Skills and experience that can support your future career
  • A role where you can see the difference you make

One important thing: You’ll need your own transport, or live close enough to The Pines to travel there reliably, as the service is difficult to reach by public transport around shift times.

If you’re looking for real responsibility, a role that will challenge you and the opportunity to make a genuine difference, The Pines could be the place for you.

Please note: if you do not hear from us within 1 week, unfortunately you have not been shortlisted for a telephone screening.
