About us

First Point are a team of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists working across over 100 GP surgeries across the Midlands, East and Southern England regions. We work within the Primary Care Team to see patients with suspected musculoskeletal conditions who would previously be seen by a GP and we require staff in Portsmouth Area (Maternity Leave Cover)

We are looking for the following candidates:

Experienced First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) or senior MSK Physiotherapist

Essential candidate requirements:

  • Physiotherapy degree (BSc, MSc Pre-reg).
  • HCPC membership and insurance e.g. CSP
  • At least 3 years of post-graduate MSK experience. If your experience is less than 5 years we may offer you a developmental FCP role.
  • Completed or willingness to complete Stages 1 and 2 of the FCP Roadmap accreditation process via university enrollment on to a taught course or supported portfolio. Please see here for further details https://www.hee.nhs.uk/our-work/allied-health-professions/enable-workforce/roadmaps-practice-0
  • Own transport or willingness to use public transport to travel to/from and between practices.
  • Excellent communicator and strong ability to collaborate with patients using complex clinical decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of proactivity and problem solving skills.
  • Keenness to share knowledge and seek guidance from colleagues within First Point Physio and the primary care setting.

Desirable:

  • 5 years post-graduate MSK experience.
  • Masters or post-graduate university training relevant to MSK practice.
  • Prior experience working as an FCP in the UK.
  • A good awareness of the MSK pathways typically used within primary, community and secondary care.
  • A good awareness of non-MSK community services.

Additional Criteria for Regional Lead if applicable:

  • Essential - good knowledge of FCP Roadmap KSAs, existing knowledge of local MSK and wider patient pathways, at least 5 years clinical experience within MSK, prior experience of supervising less experienced clinicians and/or peer support. Keenness and ability to empathetically support other clinicians and proactively engage in service development activities.
  • Desirable - completion of Roadmap, completion of 2 day FCP Roadmap supervision course
  • Typical activities include but are not limited to - supporting small team of FCPs with formal and ad-hoc clinician-focused FCP/peer supervision sessions, leading ISTs, audits, data analysis and dissemination, identifying and implementing clinical performance enhancement strategies and Roadmap supervision.
