Occupational Health Nurse (Part-Time – 1 Day per Week)

Location: Washington, Tyne and Wear
Hours: 1 day per week (flexible)

Salary : £300 per day
Reports to: Clinical Lead

About the Role

Objective Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Health Nurse to join our growing team on a part-time basis (1 day per week). The successful candidate will deliver high-quality occupational health services, supporting employers in protecting the health, safety, and wellbeing of their workforce.

This role involves carrying out health surveillance programmes, undertaking management referrals, and providing professional advice in line with current occupational health standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver occupational health - health surveillance programmes.
  • Conduct management referral assessments and prepare clear, evidence-based reports for management.
  • Assess employees' fitness for work and provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, professional standards, and company policies.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and employees.
  • Promote employee health and wellbeing through advice and education.

Health Surveillance Competencies

The successful candidate must be competent in carrying out:

  • Audiometry
  • Spirometry
  • Vision Screening
  • Skin Assessments
  • Musculoskeletal Assessments
  • Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) Tier 1-3
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Occupational Health qualification or demonstrable occupational health experience.
  • Competent in delivering the health surveillance services listed above.
  • Experience conducting occupational health management referrals.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.

Desirable

  • Experience working across manufacturing, engineering, construction, logistics, or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of current occupational health legislation and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
  • Experience using occupational health management systems.
