Can you nurture and form strong relationships with children and young people by drawing on your own life skills and experience, helping them grow and flourish into rounded young adults?
Cornerstone Children’s Homes are looking for a Residential Care Worker (Day role and Waking Nights role) for our home in Stockport. We are an established therapeutic children's service with an excellent reputation for providing high-quality care to males aged between 10 and 17 years old with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Position:
Permanent - full time
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Nights: Monday - Sunday. To work the rota as required
Job role:
- To work therapeutically with vulnerable, challenging young people by supporting them practically and emotionally and to help them work towards agreed plans for their future
- To be a positive role model, to include high standards of personal presentation for young people.
- To encourage young people to develop meaningful relationships and attachments in line with their individual care plan.
- To complete detailed computer records, write reports and assist with the general upkeep of the home.
Residential Care Worker (Day Role & Nights Role):
Ideally the successful applicant will have a background in looking after vulnerable young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in a therapeutic environment; however, opportunities exist for candidates with a desire to develop their own skills and understanding of working with young people and 'get into' this line of work.
- To hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3/4 Diploma Residential Childcare / NVQ Children and Young Peoples Workforce.
- Ability to work with young people from all backgrounds.
- Ability to cope with and respond to challenging behaviour in a constructive way.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to work within a team.
- Must be at least 22 years old
