HTS (Property & Environment) Ltd provides housing/commercial repairs & maintenance and environmental services to the tenants and residents of Harlow

We provide a positive, professional environment where everyone is supported to grow, develop, and reach their potential.

We are looking for a Gas Safe Registered Commercial Heating Technician who is ACS/commercial qualified (or equivalent) to work in our Repairs and Maintenance Department to undertake gas fitting duties and repairs & maintenance work in accordance with the Gas Safety Regulations 1998 in properties owned by the council, along with carrying out basic plumbing work associated with boiler/plant rooms. Full UK clean driving licence is essential. Must be able to work on unvented and be able to fault find electrical/ rectify commercial components.

1 week in 4 – 24hr call out (additional to basic salary).

Job Purpose

  • Undertake fitting of gas and solid fuel central heating systems in domestic properties in accordance with the gas safety regulations 1998
  • Carry out maintenance work as required

Duties

Key Performance Area 1: Quality/Delivery

  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Gas Safety Regulations 1998, with particular reference to soundness testing, installation procedures, flues and ventilation
  • Apply knowledge regarding the correct installation practices and procedures for domestic gas appliances
  • Apply correct procedures for tracing and repairing gas escapes
  • Apply knowledge of emergency controls in domestic premises
  • Carry out pressure testing and purging domestic services
  • Install all types of gas fired systems
  • Carry out basic plumbing work on mains water (after stop tap)
  • Ensure that all associated documentation can be accounted for
  • Collect job orders and keep pre-arranged appointments

  • Dealing courteously and efficiently with the general public to meet the needs of the Service user

Person Specification

Qualifications, knowledge and technical ability

Essential

  • Experience of installing various heating systems
  • Unvented qualification
  • First Aid experience/qualification
  • Working at Height experience/qualification
  • ACS - CNNI accreditation:
  • Domestic Boilers, Flues and Cookers

Desirable

  • Have an awareness of equality and diversity and how it impacts on the role and service users
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety

Communication

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work under their own initiative with excellent communication and customer facing skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Able to use PDA/Mobile apps to message, store and record job details and communication.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Hold a valid full driving licence
