Job Advert

36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year, Permanent

Building Services is looking to recruit highly motivated, time-served Gas Engineers to join our expanding in-house Central Heating Installation Teams.

These are permanent positions supporting the delivery of the Council's multi-year capital investment programme, providing long-term job security and the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team delivering new and replacement heating systems across our housing stock.

The successful candidates will be predominantly responsible for the installation and commissioning of central heating systems and associated gas appliances within Council properties. There may also be opportunities to undertake servicing, maintenance and repair work during periods of increased service demand or operational requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and forward-thinking service with a strong pipeline of work, ongoing investment in training and development, and a commitment to delivering high-quality services for our tenants and customers.

You should be passionate about customer care and health and safety, and take pride in the quality of your workmanship.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the Council's out-of-hours emergency service, for which you will receive an additional payment.

Benefits

There are many benefits available within this role, including:

  • Working a 9-day fortnight (36 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with a rota day off every second Friday.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement.
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • A monthly tool allowance to help maintain your personal tools.
  • Full uniform and safety footwear provided.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities, including maintaining and enhancing your existing skills and qualifications.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme, providing free information and support services.
  • Access to our employee benefits platform, offering a wide range of discounts with UK retailers.
  • Long-term employment security through participation in a multi-year capital investment programme.

We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
