Job details
Full job description
Introduction to Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI)
Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI) is local charity with a core mission to give people who are experiencing significant barriers to inclusion, due to their learning disability, mental health issue or other challenging circumstance, the opportunity to make a positive contribution in their community.
The role of the Community Gardener/Grounds Maintenance person
We are seeking a community gardener/grounds maintenance person who will support small groups of people with a range of support needs to engage in gardening activities at our Langloch site and across a variety of off-site locations throughout Lanarkshire. At Langloch the focus will be on growing and caring for plants for our small garden centre and supporting food growing activities across the site as well as general estate maintenance. Across our off-site locations, the focus will be on shrub maintenance, weeding, hedge trimming and food growing, often alongside other community groups. All of these activities have a core focus on supporting our participants and volunteers to make a contribution to all aspects of the planning, growing and distribution of our produce and also to learn skills in using basic gardening/landscaping tools. Working at CCI can be fast-paced and dynamic therefore having a flexible and enthusiastic approach is vital.
Job Description
In partnership with our participants and wider community development and social enterprise teams:
· Agreeing a work schedule of activities with your line manager.
· Carrying out tasks as assigned by line manager in regards to weekly planning needs.
· Working on a daily basis with teams of volunteer participants with a range of support needs including, but not limited to, learning disabilities, long term mental health issues and young people at risk.
· Working with our placement support team to ensure that all our participants are working safely in an environment where they can learn new skills and achieve their personal goals.
· Working alongside other groups on and off site to gain an understanding of all aspects of our organisation.
· Adhering to our policies and procedures and undertaking any training required.
· Agreeing maintenance, weeding and watering schedules with other CCI gardeners
· Reporting and dealing with all volunteering issues constructively with the CCI team.
