Landscape Gardener / Soft Landscaper

£30,000–£36,000 per year depending on experience

Location: Near Stansted Airport, Essex

Due to continued growth, Phipps Contracting Ltd is looking for two experienced Landscape Gardeners / Soft Landscapers to join our growing team.

We are looking for people with different strengths. You may be an experienced Landscape Gardener with strong horticultural and garden maintenance knowledge, or a Soft Landscaper experienced in planting, turfing, soil preparation and landscape installation.

Phipps Contracting is an established landscaping and fencing contractor based near Stansted Airport, working across Essex and the surrounding areas. Our projects range from high-end private gardens to housing developments, schools and commercial landscaping schemes.

We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality work and providing a professional service to our clients.

The Role

Depending on your experience and skill set, your work will include:

  • Tree, shrub, hedge and herbaceous planting
  • Turf laying and lawn preparation
  • Soil preparation, cultivation and improvement
  • General soft landscaping
  • Garden and grounds maintenance
  • Lawn care
  • Hedge cutting and pruning
  • Strimming, mowing and vegetation management
  • Operating landscaping and horticultural machinery
  • Working as part of a landscaping team
  • Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and presentation
  • Following company Health & Safety procedures

Due to the nature of our work, you will work across a variety of project locations and may either travel with the team or meet directly on site depending on the project.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous gardening, horticultural or soft landscaping experience
  • Takes pride in producing high-quality work
  • Is reliable, hardworking and works well as part of a team
  • Has a positive, practical and can-do attitude
  • Is comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
  • Has good plant knowledge, or is keen to develop their knowledge
  • Can communicate professionally with clients, site managers and other trades
  • Works safely and takes care of company tools and equipment
  • Is willing to learn and develop as the company continues to grow

A full UK driving licence is essential.

A CSCS card and relevant horticultural qualifications are desirable, although training can be provided for the right person.
