Full job description

A unique opportunity has arisen to join a private rural estate in the beautiful Bride Valley on the Jurassic Coast. We are seeking a practical, hardworking, and reliable individual to assist with day-to-day maintenance and train in skills required for upkeep of the estate.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fencing and fence repairs, including gate hanging and maintenance
  • Water systems: trough repairs, new connections, and leak detection
  • General gardening duties: mowing, strimming (gardens and wider estate), weeding, hedge cutting
  • Farm and estate building repairs as required
  • Horse jump maintenance and repairs
  • Shoot assistance: feeding, pen repairs, preparation, and beating
  • Dry stone wall repairs
  • Weekly meter readings (water, electricity, fuel)
  • Chainsaw work and logging (training can be provided)
  • Vehicle cleaning and basic upkeep
  • Occasional tractor driving (rolling, topping, grain trailers)
  • Swimming pool maintenance and routine checks

About You:

  • Practical and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Basic experience in rural or estate work preferred, but not essential
  • Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training where required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
