Full job description
A friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable Groundsperson is sought to maintain the gardens and grounds of a residential park home estate in a sole capacity on a permanent, full-time basis at near Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining attractive, well-presented grounds to a high standard.
Set within peaceful surroundings, the park features landscaped communal gardens, mature trees, ornamental shrubs, hedging, well-kept lawns, seasonal planting, and attractive park homes, all maintained to an exceptionally high standard. The grounds also include welcoming entrance features, pathways, communal spaces, and show homes, creating an attractive environment for residents and visitors alike.
As a Groundsperson, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the grounds and gardens, ensuring that all areas are clean, tidy. This is a varied and hands-on role that requires someone who can work confidently on their own using their initiative while also working effectively as part of a team when required. The successful candidate will be practical, physically fit, dependable, and flexible, with a positive attitude and a willingness to adapt to the changing demands of the role.
Responsibilities will include carrying out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks such as grass mowing, strimming, hedge cutting using both mechanical and hand-operated equipment, pruning shrubs, mulching, watering, weeding, edging, leaf collection, digging and preparing beds and borders, planting new trees, shrubs, and seasonal displays, and applying fertilisers where appropriate. You will also be responsible for maintaining fences, carrying out pressure washing to external areas, and ensuring that the overall appearance of the park is maintained to an exceptional standard at all times.
In addition to grounds maintenance, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the park’s show homes, ensuring they are presented to the highest standards for visitors and prospective customers. You may also be required to liaise with on-site contractors and supervise work where necessary to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Previous experience in horticulture, gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance, estate maintenance, or a similar outdoor role would be advantageous. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel to other company sites if required. You should have a practical approach, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and health and safety.
Working hours are 8 am to 4 pm. This role requires someone with a flexible approach to work, particularly during busy seasonal periods and open days, when additional support may be needed. Above all, someone with a positive, can-do attitude who is committed to delivering excellent standards and enjoys working as part of a professional and supportive team.
