Grounds Maintenance Operative

Key Requirements (Essential)

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
  • Strong practical grounds maintenance and landscaping skills
  • Good plant knowledge and understanding of soft landscaping
  • Valid CSCS Card preferred
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred
  • Ability to work safely, efficiently, and to high standards
  • Positive attitude with good teamwork skills

The Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will support the delivery of landscaping and maintenance works across a variety of sites. You will work as part of a team to ensure all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out grounds maintenance operations on commercial and residential sites
  • Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and general site maintenance
  • Planting shrubs, trees, and soft landscaping in line with site plans
  • Supporting landscaping installations and seasonal works
  • Using landscaping tools and machinery safely and effectively
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and presentation
  • Following health & safety procedures on-site
  • Working effectively as part of a team

Skills & Experience RequiredEssential

  • Experience within landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
  • Good practical skills and strong work ethic
  • Reliable, punctual, and motivated
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • High attention to detail

Desirable

  • CSCS Card
  • PA1 & PA6 Certificates
  • Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or related discipline
  • Full UK Driving Licence
