Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Gardener to join our team in maintaining and enhancing the beauty of our gardens and landscapes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and a keen eye for detail.

Duties and Responsibilities: −

− To oversee the regular & seasonal grassing cutting service to all landscaped amenity land areas together with regular weed maintenance of cultivated park flower beds.

− To keep the paths and paved areas clean and free of weeds, litter, debris, leaves, and moss as far as is reasonably practical.

− To keep the Play Area, Car Park & Tennis Courts to keep clean, free of weeds, litter, debris, leaves & moss as far as is reasonably practicable.

− To report damage such as trip hazards, loose fittings and other health and Safety issues in relation to the Play Area, Car Park and Tennis Courts.

− To carry out other duties, as within your capabilities and level of responsibility, to meet the needs of the organisation. - -

- The applicant must have valid chainsaw licence CS30 & CS31, spraying licences PA1 and PA6.

− To work within the DPML policies and procedures to provide a high quality of service and in particular to always have a high regard for the residents and visitors to the park.

− To carry out specific duties and tasks as per Summer and Winter Maintenance Programmes.

− To provide information for reports and weekly updates to your line manager on issues or problems regarding any gardening matters.

− To support ad hoc Delamere Park events such a Bonfire Night and the Summer Gala Day, with the erection of marquees and collection from residents’ homes of materials or items to be used at such events.

− To advise on the implementation of the Tree Policy with due regard to the safety and maintenance / replanting of trees within the park. Be aware of TPO’s and liaise as necessary with the Local Authority and Tree Surgeons’ to undertake any planned or emergency tree work.

− Keep up to date with changes in policies/laws/regulations/practices in relationship to Gardening matters and discuss any issues which may impact on DPML with your line manager and the Estate Manager.

− In conjunction with your line manager and the Estate Manager agree on the need for specialist or contractor support (i.e. – Tree Surgeon) to undertake special or routine tasks within the park (these may be seasonal such as hedge cutting, or emergency, such as tree felling to make an area safe). Supervise such works as agreed to ensure completion and proper invoicing.

− To identify and place orders for replenishment of gardening stocks, materials, and other gardening consumables to ensure work continuity and adequate supply of materials is always available to meet work commitments taking account of seasonal requirements.

− Ensure that equipment used is the responsibility of the gardening team and they must ensure to DPML that is always available, ready to use, and simple maintenance undertaken to ensure its operational readiness and safety (i.e. oil, fuel, and water checks of tractors & mowers etc;). Where appropriate identifying faults which requires equipment to be taken out of use for essential repair & maintenance.
