Full job description

St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club is looking for a practical, reliable and enthusiastic Grounds & Facilities Maintenance Assistant to help us keep our clubhouse, gardens and wider facilities looking their best.

Working under the direction of our Course Manager, this is a varied, hands-on role ideally suited to someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in what they do and is happy turning their hand to a wide range of jobs.

What you’ll be doing

The role will include:

  • Maintaining gardens, borders and landscaped areas around the clubhouse
  • Grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning and general gardening
  • Keeping entrances, paths, car parks and external areas tidy and well presented
  • General clubhouse maintenance and minor repairs
  • Painting, decorating and making-good
  • Basic carpentry, plumbing and DIY repairs
  • Maintaining fences, gates, signage, furniture and fixtures
  • Identifying maintenance issues before they become bigger problems
  • Helping with practical improvement projects around the Club
  • Supporting contractors and the wider Club team when required

Who are we looking for?

You don’t need to be a qualified tradesperson. We’re looking for someone with good practical skills, common sense and a can-do attitude.

Experience in general maintenance, property maintenance, gardening, landscaping, facilities or a similar hands-on role would be an advantage.

You’ll need to be comfortable using basic hand and power tools, working both indoors and outdoors and managing a varied workload.

Most importantly, we want someone who is dependable, takes pride in high standards and enjoys seeing the results of a job well done.

The role

20 hours per week initially, with some flexibility around working days and hours.

You’ll be joining a friendly team at one of Cambridgeshire’s leading golf and leisure facilities, helping us maintain and improve the environment enjoyed by our members, guests and visitors every day.
