Company Overview:
J Squared Solutions is recruiting on behalf of our esteemed client, a leading provider of grounds and garden maintenance services. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee a team of 17 gardeners. The majority of the work (75%) involves maintaining commercial properties, with a focus on planned maintenance.
Job Role:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and supervising the maintenance teams that deliver high-quality grounds and garden maintenance services to both domestic and commercial clients. This role is predominantly office-based in Crayford, with occasional site visits required, sites are over Kent and London.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Oversee and support a team of 17 gardeners, ensuring all contracts are executed to the highest standards.
- Manage and mentor team leaders in their daily tasks to maintain consistent service quality.
- Conduct regular site inspections, provide feedback, and address any issues in line with the operations manual.
- Mentor and train new or inexperienced operatives, ensuring they adhere to company standards.
- Support team leaders in the training and development of their teams.
- Build and develop relationships with customers and managing agents to secure additional work.
- Proactively pursue new opportunities with both existing and potential clients.
- Collaborate daily with the Office Manager to ensure seamless communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
- Utilize the provided rota to efficiently plan daily tasks, considering specific client requirements.
- Ensure all gardening practices, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and border work, are carried out to a high standard.
- Adhere to the company’s health and safety policy, conduct risk assessments, and record findings in the maintenance folder.
- Ensure all tools and equipment on board vehicles are suitable and in good working order.
- Perform minor routine maintenance tasks on tools and vehicles, ensuring they are clean and well-maintained.
- Report any issues with tools, equipment, or client interactions to company management in a timely manner.
- Communicate potential leads for additional work to company management for further action.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in managing teams within a grounds or garden maintenance environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of gardening practices and maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
- Proactive and able to work independently with strong organizational skills.
- Valid UK driving license.
