Full job description

The ‘Outdoor Maintenance Operative’ is responsible for maintaining the Estate’s grounds and property (residential, commercial, racing and stud) to a high standard.

This is a predominantly hands-on, outdoor role, ideal for a self-motivated individual who takes real pride in their work.

Grounds and Outdoor Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out day-to-day grounds maintenance across the Estate, including walling, mowing, hedge cutting, fencing and general upkeep, to a consistently high standard.
  • Delivering the Estate’s scheduled outdoor maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Manager, prioritising tasks so the grounds always look their best.
  • Identifying outdoor repairs and issues early, resolving them where possible or escalating to the Maintenance Manager if required.
  • Keeping tools, machinery and equipment clean, well maintained and in safe working order.
  • Supporting the Maintenance Manager with planned and reactive maintenance across residential and commercial property.
  • Carrying out maintenance projects efficiently, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Working alongside external contractors on site where required.
  • Complying with relevant Health and Safety legislation, including risk assessment and where appropriate, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required to keep yourself and those around you safe.

Property Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Experience in dry stone walling and general outdoor grounds maintenance.
  • Practical property maintenance skills, including painting, minor repairs and general DIY.
  • IT skills/computer literacy, particularly MS Office.
  • A proactive approach with the motivation to take ownership of your work and manage your own schedule.
  • Genuine enjoyment of working outdoors, in all seasons.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team but also confident working independently.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Full drivers license required.
