An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and dedicated gardener to join a small, friendly team on a private country estate in Gloucestershire. This full-time position offers the chance to work across both established and newly designed gardens, maintaining them to the highest standards throughout the year while contributing to the ongoing development and vision of the estate.

The estate’s gardens are a beautiful blend of lawns, roses, herbaceous borders, a kitchen and cutting garden, orchard and a historic water garden. The gardens form part of a larger estate and the owners have a particular focus on expanding into more natural areas which will include a wildflower meadows and woodland style gardens to enhance biodiversity on the wider estate.

The successful candidate will report to the owners and work as part of a small garden team, forming a close-knit, supportive team. The role offers a wide variety of hands-on tasks throughout the year, including, weeding, pruning, mulching, mowing, edging, hedge cutting, planting, growing cut flowers, fruit and vegetables to provide the house all year.

This role would suit an experienced estate gardener or a recently qualified gardener, who wishes to expand their knowledge.

Experience operating horticultural machinery is highly desirable, including mowers, strimmer’s and hedge trimmers to help maintain the gardens and grounds to an exceptional standard. A PA1/PA6 spraying, telehandler, digger and CS30/31 chainsaw certifications would be advantageous, though training can be provided. The role also involves occasional support with wider estate duties, offering variety and the chance to be involved in the broader running of the estate.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in private estates or large garden and landscape settings. An RHS Level 2 qualification with good horticultural knowledge, as well as an interest in floristry is desirable but not essential. Full training will be given.

Applicants should be physically fit, enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, and hold a full UK driving licence with access to their own transport due to the rural location. This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm, some occasional evening and weekend work may be required. The role offers a holiday package of 20 days, plus bank holidays.

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
