Royal Garden is a professional garden maintenance and landscaping company based in Witney, working across Oxfordshire.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking gardener to join our two-person maintenance team. You will work alongside an experienced gardener, helping to maintain a portfolio of private residential gardens to a consistently high standard.

This is a practical, hands-on outdoor role involving lawn care, hedge cutting, weeding, planting, pruning, seasonal tidy-ups and general garden maintenance. You will also help with loading and unloading equipment, clearing garden waste and ensuring every property is left clean and tidy.

During quieter maintenance periods, particularly over winter, the role may include fencing, soft landscaping and general garden-improvement projects.

Previous professional gardening or grounds-maintenance experience would be beneficial, but we are also willing to consider someone with practical outdoor experience, a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in developing their gardening skills.

The position will be offered as permanent PAYE employment, subject to a probationary period.

Pay

The hourly rate is £13.00–£15.00, depending on experience, practical ability and knowledge.

The higher end of the range is intended for someone who already has professional garden-maintenance experience and can confidently use gardening machinery, recognise common plants and complete routine tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the maintenance of private residential gardens
• Carry out lawn mowing, edging and strimming
• Assist with hedge cutting, pruning and seasonal plant care
• Carry out weeding, planting, digging, mulching and general border maintenance
• Complete seasonal tidy-ups and leaf clearance
• Load and unload tools, machinery and garden waste
• Safely use professional gardening machinery and power tools after appropriate instruction
• Keep the company van, tools and equipment clean and organised
• Follow instructions from the experienced gardener or Team Leader
• Work efficiently while maintaining good attention to detail
• Communicate politely and professionally with customers
• Ensure every garden is left clean and tidy
• Assist with fencing, soft landscaping and garden-improvement projects when required
• Follow company health and safety procedures while working at customers’ properties

Desirable Experience

The following would be beneficial but are not essential:

• Previous professional gardening or grounds-maintenance experience
• Experience using lawnmowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers
• Basic plant knowledge
• Experience with fencing, landscaping or other practical outdoor work
• Full UK driving licence
• PA1 or PA6 pesticide qualifications
• First Aid certification
