Location: Gloucestershire
Salary: £25,000–£30,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm
Job type: Full-time, permanent, live-out
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and practical Estate Gardener to join a small, friendly team on a beautiful private country estate in Gloucestershire.
The gardens are wonderfully varied, featuring established lawns, roses and herbaceous borders, alongside a kitchen and cutting garden, orchard and historic water garden. The owners are also developing new natural areas, including wildflower meadows and woodland-style gardens, with a strong focus on biodiversity.
This is a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced Estate Gardener or a recently qualified horticulturist looking to build their knowledge and experience within an inspiring private estate setting. Full training will be provided.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining lawns, borders and planted areas to a high standard
- Weeding, pruning, mulching, mowing and edging
- Hedge cutting and seasonal planting
- Growing cut flowers, fruit and vegetables for the household
- Supporting the development of wildflower meadows and woodland gardens
- Operating horticultural machinery and equipment
- Assisting with occasional wider estate duties
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous gardening experience within a private estate, large garden or landscaping environment
- Possess good practical horticultural knowledge
- Be enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn
- Be physically fit and happy working outdoors throughout the year
- Work well as part of a close-knit and supportive team
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport due to the rural location
An RHS Level 2 qualification and an interest in floristry would be advantageous but are not essential. PA1/PA6, telehandler, digger or CS30/31 chainsaw certificates would also be beneficial, although training can be provided.
Some occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Benefits include 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and excellent opportunities for further training and development.
Pay: £25,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
