Full job description
Company profile
Altana Wealth is an award-winning Asset Management Company based in London with an affiliate company based in Monaco, backed by partners’ money and with a wide range of funds across multiple asset classes. The company manages assets on behalf of professional clients and eligible counterparties. Altana Wealth is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK and by the CCAF in Monaco. Please visit www.altanawealth.com for further information.
Team profile
Our team members come from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures, with a common focus on high performance and differentiated sources of alpha. The credit team invests across the capital structure in bonds, credit derivatives and hybrid securities, with a focus on event-driven situations. We look at performing, stressed and distressed credits, on both the long and the short side and invest across industries with no specific bias, but currently the Technology sector, in particular Artificial Intelligence and Insurance are a focus.
Your internship
You will support the investment team across the full life cycle of idea generation, fundamental research, trade construction and implementation. You will receive training in fundamental research and relative value analysis, with formal review and feedback throughout.
Duration: Up to 12 weeks, or longer depending on availability and workload, typically five days per week.
Intakes: We run two intakes each year. The summer internship, starting in June or July 2027, is open to students entering the penultimate or final year of their degree or Master's. The off-cycle winter internship, starting in January or February 2027, is open to graduates, including Master's and MBA graduates, and to those seeking work experience. Prior professional experience is an advantage for both intakes. Please state in your covering letter which intake you are applying for, or whether you would like to be considered for both. Strong interns may be considered for an extended placement, a return internship or a full-time role where one becomes available.
Key Responsibilities
-
Bottom-up fundamental company and industry research to support idea generation.
-
Gathering and synthesising macroeconomic, financial and operating information about companies and industries.
-
Building and maintaining financial models.
-
Using Claude alongside Bloomberg and Excel to accelerate research, verifying all output against primary sources.
-
Drafting presentations and memoranda for internal and external audiences.
-
Attending team discussions and ad hoc external stakeholder meetings.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for:
-
Curiosity and Rigour: A genuine interest in how companies and markets work, and the intellectual honesty to follow the evidence.
-
Interest in Markets: Demonstrable engagement with investing, such as running your own account, writing on markets or an investment society.
-
Analytical and Communication Skills: Keen attention to detail and the ability to present a clear, concise view with diplomacy and confidence.
-
Drive and Urgency: A bias to action and a record of achievement, with the reliability to deliver work to a high standard in a fast-paced environment.
-
Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills are expected. Working knowledge of Python and practical experience using AI tools for research are a plus, as is the judgement to know where those tools fall short.
-
Achievements: A strong academic record, ideally relevant internships or work experience, and accomplishments outside the classroom, such as sports, side projects or unusual interests.
-
A degree in economics, finance, corporate finance or a related quantitative subject is preferred. We also welcome applicants from other disciplines who can demonstrate a genuine interest in markets and investing.
To apply, please email a covering letter, CV and transcripts to Recruiting@altanawealth.com. The process typically includes a written assignment, a case study and interviews. You may use AI tools in your application and case study; please tell us briefly how you used them, as you will be asked to discuss your work in detail at interview. You must be eligible to work in the UK for the duration of the internship. Two professional or academic references will be requested at a later stage. The closing date for applications is 6 November 2026.
