WHO WE ARE:

Schools Plus was founded in 2004 with a mission to transform community lettings. We convert school facilities into vibrant community hubs outside of school hours. From sports clubs and fitness classes to events and educational activities, we create safe, welcoming environments for a wide range of customers.

We deliver operational excellence and a consistent approach to all our sites with our fantastic teams who are dedicated to transforming community use in schools. Our focus is to enrich the quality of education in communities by generating flexible and sustainable income for our partner schools.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Venue Supervisor, you’ll be the face of Schools Plus on-site. You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality customer experience while ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the venue.

This is a hands-on, varied role. You’ll often work independently, taking ownership of the site and the activities taking place.

You would take responsibility for the cleanliness of the site, ensuring all facilities, surrounding areas, and toilets are maintained to a high standard and left as expected by the school

HOURS:

This is a part-time role on a zero-hours contract with 6-10 hours available each week. Candidates must be available to work weekday evenings (preferably Mondays and Thursdays) and have some flexibility to work weekends too.

PEOPLE SKILLS:

We’re looking for a confident and customer-focused individual who can create a welcoming, professional environment for all site users.

You’ll be confident communicating with customers, from welcoming them on arrival, answering questions, or stepping in to help resolve any issues. Staying calm and positive is important.

You’ll often be the main point of contact on-site, so being comfortable working independently, using your initiative, and taking ownership is key. You’ll be proactive and take pride in doing things to a high standard.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping the site running smoothly and creating a great experience for our customers.

  • Opening up the site and preparing everything for the day’s or evening’s bookings
  • Setting up spaces for a range of activities, from sports sessions to events
  • Welcoming customers and being their main point of contact during their booking
  • Carrying out regular site patrols to ensure all areas are safe, secure, and being used appropriately
  • Monitoring activities to make sure everything is running smoothly and safely
  • Hourly toilet checks
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across all areas being used, including facilities, surrounding areas, and toilets
  • Resetting spaces after use so they are left exactly as the school expects
  • Handling any issues or unexpected situations calmly and confidently
  • Closing the site safely and securely at the end of your shift

This position will suit a person who is punctual and well organised, who thrives when given real responsibility and independence.

FLEXIBILITY AND COMMITMENT:

This role offers flexibility, with hours based on your availability and the needs of the site. Shifts typically take place in the evenings, weekends, school holidays, and occasionally during the school day.

You’ll agree your availability in advance with your Team Leader, and once shifts are scheduled, they are mutually committed. We will honour agreed shifts, even in the event of booking changes, and we ask for the same commitment in return.

BE PART OF A TEAM:

You will not only be part of the team at your sites, but you will also be welcomed into the Schools Plus wider team. We’ve been managing lettings for 22 years and we have a terrific support network from your Team Leader and Area Manager to other colleagues across our sites.

GROW WITH US:

This role is a great opportunity to build experience and develop new skills within a supportive environment. Many of our Venue Supervisors have gone on to become Team Leaders, Contact Centre Colleagues and Area Managers.

If you’re motivated, reliable, and keen to progress, we’ll support your development through training, guidance, and opportunities to step up and take on more responsibility.

BENEFITS:

  • Flexible working hours
  • Opportunity to earn bonus if passing our Operational Excellence Audit
  • Full training and ongoing development
  • Opportunities for career progression
  • Employee referral programme
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Supportive and friendly team environment
  • Uniform provided

Due to the lone working nature of this position and the supervision of customers, applicants must be over the age of 18.

We are committed to the highest standards of child protection. We rigorously vet all candidates, including police checks. All employees are subject to ongoing monitoring for child protection purposes.

Schools Plus is an Equal Opportunities employer, and we welcome your application.

Job Type: Part-time

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Referral programme

Application question(s):

  • Are you available to work during our operating hours (evenings and weekends)?
